Dr. Cora Marsaw Obituary

Cora Annette Marsaw, born January 29, 1954 to the parents of Johnny Lee and Cora L. Marsaw (who preceded her in death) and brothers, Jimmie Lee and Willie L. “Scooter” Marsaw (who also have preceded her in death).  Cora Annette attended and graduated from Vidalia High School in 1972, Vidalia Louisiana.

Cora Annette moved to Dallas Texas where she attended El Centro College receiving an associate degree as a Medical Assistant.  She continued her education at Texas Women’s University (TWU), Denton receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  She later received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Baylor University College of Dentistry, as well as a certificate in Periodontics from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Dr. Marsaw also became a board-certified diplomate of the America College of Periodontology.

During Dr. Marsaw’s tenure of private practice of 29 years, she also worked as a professor of dentistry at the Baylor School of Dentistry.  She was a visionary and a proponent of education for young people.  She was also a philanthropist and blessed with the gift to give even in other countries such as Mexico, Belize and Jamaica rendering her medical services to those less fortunate and in need.  Her mission work was not only aboard; but was here in the city of Dallas as well.

Cora Annette was born into the Marsaw family which was a family of praying people.  There was no task that she would undertake without reverencing and petitioning God for guidance and understanding.  She had a passion to work in whatever task she took on, and she did it well and with much Love. She was a constant student for learning and a teacher of those things learned.

Dr. Cora had no biological children, but was the second mother to her sister’s children, Troy and Carla Marsaw and Brandon and Stanford Smith.

Cora Annette leaves to cherish her memory, seven brothers: Johnny Lee Marsaw, Vidalia LA, Cleotha Marsaw, Natchez MS, LeeTerrell Campbell, Las Vegas NV, Leonard Sullivan Marsaw (Joyce), Desoto TX, Ronnie Hendrix (Beverly), Charlotte NC, Ezell Hendrix, Macon GA and Terry Marsaw, Mesquite TX.  Two sisters: Hazel Ruth Marsaw-Roberts, Mesquite TX., and Belinda Marsaw-Smith (Stephen), Dallas TX.  Also, to cherish her memory is one uncle Louis T.
