Gwen was born June 22, 1952 in Groesbeck, Texas to Ella Mae Williams and George Asberry. She moved to Dallas in 1958 where she attended South Oak Cliff High School and graduated in 1971.
She retired from UT Southwestern where she was a dedicated employee for 30 years.
She was a proud member of Deliverance Revival Tabernacle Church and later Full of Faith Christian Center. Her love for God was shown in every aspect of her life.
She will be greatly missed by those who survive her: her sisters, Patricia Williams, Juanita Robertson, and Betty Taylor; her nieces, Shontara Williams and Mary Cleaver; all of her Godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family that she tenderly cared for throughout her life. She touched the lives of many.
She departed this earthly life on September 2, 2019. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Mae Williams; her father, George Asberry; her sisters, Dorothy Mitchell, Francis Tatum, Essie Montgomery and brother, Troy Asberry.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” -Psalm 23
