James Gordon Obituary

James Earl Gordon was born to Ben and Ocie Gordon on August 7, 1935. He was born in a strong Christian family and accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He was the third children of five siblings. James Earl was raised in the Corinth Community where he attended Corinth Elementary School and Junior High School. He graduated from Stanton High School in Bullard, Texas. James Earl was a faithful member at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. He didn’t go to church just to say, “I went”. He loved serving the Lord, and was an active member in the church. He was a Deacon, sung in the Male Chorus and Senior Choir. James Earl worked for the City of Tyler, General Electric and Trane Electric until he retired on October 1, 2000.

James Earl will forever be known for his kind heart, big smile, and his beautiful singing voice. He loved to sing, yodel, and watch his shows on tv. He enjoyed the watching the Westerns, any sports with the exception of track, and loved Steve Harvey’s Family Feud Show. Let's not forget he loved to eat and had to have Blue Bell Vanilla Ice Cream every day! Most of all, he love sitting around with his family laughing, singing, and giving his words of wisdom.

James Earl Gordon departed this life on July 7, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ocie Gordon; brother, BJ Gordon; sister, Ida Boyd; and son, Frederick Gordon. James Earl leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Karen Miller (Gregory) of Cedar Hill, Texas and Deidra Gordon Lacy (Keith) of Tyler, Texas; one son, Dennis Gordon of Tyler, Texas; one sister, Ollie Jones of DeSoto, Texas; one brother, Sammie Gordon (Bertha) of Bullard, Texas; a special friend, Lillie Gilliam; special cousin, Liz Pierce; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that loved him dearly.

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” -Revelation 14:13
