Alice Luster Obituary

Alice Mae [Bell] Luster began life’s journey on March 5, 1944in Macon, Mississippi born to loving parents, Henry Bell, Sr. and Mary Lou [Macon] Bell Johnson, both who preceded her in death.

Alice was the eldest of four children. She accepted Christ at an early age, wholeheartedly embracing the anointing of the Holy Spirit and demonstrating unwavering faith and love for both God and her family, until she entered eternal peace. She graduated from Bankhead High School in Noxubee County. On February 18, 1962, she united in holy matrimony to Willie Luster Sr. and to this union four children were born. They relocated their family to Chicago, Illinois.

Alice was a devoted stay-at-home mother while her children were young, and then was employed at GTE/Nokia for manyyears as an Inspector, and later worked to care for senior citizens before retiring. She was a quiet, selfless, loving, supportive, graceful, and resilient Woman of God. She always put her children’s and grandchildren’s needs before her own. She was an accomplished seamstress, making all her children’s clothes when they were young, and even crafted her mother-of-the-bride dress and jacket for her youngest daughter’s wedding.

In her younger years she had a multitude of passion projects from selling Beeline clothing, Mary Kay, and Tupperware, to becoming a nail tech and a duplex owner. It was always exciting to see what new venture would capture her interest next. The many trips every summer back to Macon, Mississippi are precious memories that her children still share to this day, and they are the reason they have inherited their parents’ deep love for family. She enjoyed reading the Bible and playing games on her cell phone, but most of all, she cherished spending time with her daughters and having conversations with her son. She profoundly believed in and was incredibly proud of her grandchildren.

God called Alice home to rest on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center at approximately 9:35pm.

Although we rejoice in Alice’s homegoing and will deeply miss her, we remember her as a loving, nurturing and devoted mother who imparted immeasurable wisdom to her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, three loving and dedicated children: one son, Willie Luster, Jr. of Elkhart, Indiana and two daughters, Rosemary Marie Luster and Evette (Dexter) Campbell of Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren: Jerome Antoine (Valencia Rene) Gibson, Joe Earl Campbell and Aja Chantrell Campbell; one great-granddaughter, Aamilah Ella Gibson and one step great-granddaughter, Ava Randi Hernandez; two step grandchildren, Jonathan Quintel Porter and MaKayla Ciera Porter; one sister: Martha Bell of Lansing, Michigan and one brother, Robert Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters-in-law: Carrie Luster and Viola Skinner of Macon, Mississippi and Irene (Roy Forbes) Hubbard of Chicago, Illinois; one brother-in-law: James (Sarah) Luster of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

She joins in glory her beloved grandparents Charlie and Cynthia Macon; her parents, Henry Bell, Sr. and Mary Lou Bell Johnson; husband, Willie Luster, Sr; her precious son, Willie James Luster; one brother: Henry Bell, Jr.; two daughters-in-law, Mary Denise Porter Luster and Penny Ellen Johnson; as well as several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
