Alma Foster Obituary

How can I say thanks for the things you have done for me. Things so undeserved, and yet you came to prove your love to me. The voices of a million angels could not express my gratitude…

Alma “Faye” Dabbs Foster was born a twin (Albert Ray) on April 22, 1940, in Dallas, Texas to the late Veron and Daisy Dabbs. She grew up in the White Rock area and obtained her education at Madison High School in Dallas.

She had a deep love for music and was a proud member of the Dallas Academy Choir and her vocal part that she sang was a “strong second alto.” Also, she attended several Gospel Music Workshops of America Inc., in 1967 under the direction of the late Reverend James Cleveland, traveling to Nashville, Detroit, Chicago, Beaumont and various Texas cities.

At an early age, she professed her faith and united with New Waverly Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late pastor, R.T. Conley. She later joined First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park, under the leadership of the late pastor, Jessie Lee Foster. In 1966, she moved her membership to Jordan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the later pastor, R. M. Robertson, now under the leadership of pastor S. J. O. Royal, II.

At Jordan Baptist Church, she faithfully served in the Choir, Mission Ministry/WOW Ministry, Nurse’s Guild and the Hospitality Ministry.

Alma “Faye” worked for the founder of the Dallas Cowboys, Mr. Clint Murchison, Jr. and traveled with him to Super Bowl VI in 1972, to Tulane Stadium in New Orleans (the Cowboys defeated the Miami Dolphins, 24-3).

She was later employed by The Lorch Company, the oldest privately owned Women’s Apparel Manufacturer in the United States, where she dedicated many years before retiring.

In 1957, she married Raymond Foster and worked with him at H & W Record Shop, where he was co-owner, and to this union four beloved children were born: Trumila, Anita, Phil and Cheryl.

She leaves behind her devoted and dedicated children to cherish her memory: Trumila Foster Watson, Anita Foster, Phil D. Foster and Cheryl Foster Scott (Dan) all of Dallas County, Texas. Five (5) grandchildren, Tyrone Wilson, Sr., who preceded her in death, Avanti Reed, JaKira Scott, LaDasha Watson, and Jalen Scott; three (3) great-grandchildren, Tyrone Wilson, Jr., Aria Reed, and Keiondre Scott.

She was the 10th of twelve children, with eight preceding her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing; her twin brother, Albert Ray Dabbs of Dallas, Margaret Brown and Mildred Briscoe of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and a special cousin, Billy Bonner; and a lifelong friend, Dorothy Jenkins Head.

Alma “Faye” Foster's legacy is one of Faith, Service, Community, Family Devotion and Unwavering Strength; she was a realist, she said what she felt and meant what she said! You never had to question her thoughts or feelings. She touched so many lives. Her loving spirit and personality will be treasured always!
