Althea "Winnie" Thompson Parker was born on May 25, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to Alvin Thompson and Saporia Harris Thompson. As she was affectionately known, Winnie was a beacon of love and compassion, always putting her family and friends first. Her warm and caring nature touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. She cared for the health of her recently deceased brother, Reginald "Reggie" Thompson.
Winnie's love for music was a vibrant part of her life, spanning a wide range from the soulful rhythms of R&B to the uplifting melodies of gospel. She found joy in the kitchen, where she crafted delicious meals with love, and her talent for sewing produced beautiful creations. Her passion for these activities was infectious, bringing joy to those around her.
Winnie was a graduate of Franklin D. Roosevelt High School. She then pursued her education at Richland Community College in Dallas, Texas. Her time at the college was a testament to her love for learning.
As we mourn Winnie's passing, we also celebrate her life—a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire all fortunate to have known her. Winnie's departure leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Thompson (Marilyn), two aunts, a host of cousins, and other relatives who will cherish her memory forever.
