Andrew Flye, Jr. Obituary

With gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of Andrew Carnell Flye Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as “AC,” "Andy" or "Baby brother" who peacefully transitioned on May 5, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 85. God blessed us with the loving spirit of Andrew Carnell Flye Jr. on November 30, 1940, in Bay City, Texas through the union of his parents Andrew Carnell Flye Sr. and Myrtle Louise Gardner Flye.  AC Jr. was a man of determination, wisdom, and unwavering perseverance. At an early age, he attended Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City, where his spiritual foundation and strong values were nurtured.

AC attended Hilliard High School in Bay City, graduating with the Class of 1959. A gifted athlete, he excelled as a track star and proudly played on the football team, earning admiration for both his athletic ability and competitive spirit. His talents and dedication led him to Prairie View A&M University, where he continued running track while pursuing higher education. AC earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees, accomplishments that reflected his belief in hard work, discipline, and lifelong learning. AC joined the Army after completing his studies at Prairie View and served with the 126th Maintenance Division where he honorably completed his tour of duty in 1967.

AC shared a special bond with his former wife/classmate, Margaret Revis, from their union came two beloved sons: Andrew Carnell Flye III and Darryl Dwayne Flye.

AC’s journey through life was one marked by ambition and resilience. After spending many successful years in corporate America, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and founded Andy Flye's Plumbing. Through years of dedicated service, he built not only a respected business, but also lasting relationships within the community. Plumbing was more than a profession to AC Jr. it was a way of life as his father and brother were/are master plumbers — it was honest work that he carried out with pride until his retirement.

Beyond his professional life, AC enjoyed watching his sons and their longtime friends also known as the "Meadowstone Chargers" grow into adulthood.  He was a coach/parent with the Oak Cliff Chiefs little league football organization. He was an excellent swing dancer, known in the swing dance circle as "Poppy".  But most of all, AC Jr. found tremendous joy on the golf course. He was an AVID golfer and a former member of the Pro Duffers Golf Association in Dallas, Texas. His love for the game extended far beyond competition, as he spent many years mentoring young people in golf, teaching them not only the fundamentals of the sport, but also lessons about patience, integrity, discipline, and confidence. His encouragement helped shape countless young lives, and his impact will continue for generations to come.  He always said, "I could live on the golf course forever".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew C. Flye, Sr. and Myrtle Louise Gardner Flye, and his beloved niece, Rosalind Lynette Flye.

AC leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, wisdom, and cherished memories. He is survived by his only brother Robert Flye (Nona);  sons, Andrew (AC) Flye III (Yolanda Michelle) and Darryl Dwayne Flye; very special friend Essie Livingston; his nieces, Myrtle Plummer (Lewis II), Felicia Lewis (Averill) and Lauren Plummer; his nephews, Lewis Plummer III and Asa Lewis; cousins Sandra Marchant (Tony), Harold "Bubba" Jackson (Millie) and Cherie Armstrong (Courtney); extended family Amber and June Kang, and his treasured grandchildren whom he cherished:  Andrew (Drew) C. Flye IV, Aysia Chanese Flye, and Ayanna Camille Flye, along with a host of extended family members, dear friends, golf companions, former students, and loved ones whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him. AC lived fully, loved deeply, worked faithfully, and gave generously. His laughter, wisdom, mentorship, and unmistakable spirit will continue to inspire all who had the blessing of knowing him.

Pops, job well done, good and faithful servant get your rest.
