Anthony James Turner was born on September 11, 1970 in Dallas, Texas. He was the first born child of James Moore and Arlene Turner. He received his formal education from the Dallas Independent School District, attending Charles Rice Elementary School, and graduated from Lincoln High School where he played football and basketball.
Anthony was a loyal and dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys. You could tell when the Cowboys had lost a game by the expression on Yogi’s face. In Anthony’s life, there were several set backs and detours, but he never lost hope that 2318 Greer Street was where home would always be.
Downtown one night with his cousin, Eric, he saw a lady walking to her car, and asked, “May I walk with you?” Almost two years later, that lady, Regina Frank became his wife and remained until death parted the two.
Anthony attended St. James Church of God in Christ. He was a man who always had a big smile on his face. He had so much love for people, especially his family. He loved to dress and loved his hats.
Anthony “Yogi” Turner departed this earthly life on May 31, 2020. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, L.J. and Myrtise Turner; his “Madra” Edith Truitt; his beloved aunt “Cat”; father-in-law, Curtis James Williams; and his baby brother, Kempton.
He leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories: wife, Regina Frank Turner; one son, Jalvin; three stepchildren, Trey, Essence, and Skylor; mother, Arlene Turner; father, James Moore (Carolyn); four sisters, Keonia (Kenneth), Kotiller (Stanley), Dyantria, and Carol; four brothers, London, Lee, Charles, and Derrick; three grandchildren, Javlin Jr., King, and Amiyah who he lovingly called “Papa Baby Girl”; two aunts, Carolyn (Ray) who he loved dearly, and Virginia Byrd; mother-in-law, Retha Frank; special niece, Kadaria (J’s & K’s) and nephew, Kameron; cousins, Gregory, Timothy, Eric, Robert, Demanay, Shun, and Curry; along with a host of other relatives and friends that loved him dearly.
