Bettie Brown Obituary

Bettie Joyce Andrews Brown entered eternal peace on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, niece, cousin, co-worker, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born to the union of Joe Jr. and Earnestine Andrews on January 23, 1940, in Jefferson, Texas, where she spent her formative years. Bettie grew up on the waters of Caddo Lake where she loved fishing as much as she loved eating the fish she caught. She attended Jefferson High School graduating from the class of 1958. After graduation, she honorably served in the United States Army as a member of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) from 1958 to 1960.

On December 23, 1965, she was united in holy matrimony to Clemmie Brown, Sr. under the leadership of Minister C.C. Locke at the Cedar Crest Church of Christ, Dallas Texas. They were married for 49 years until his passing in October of 2014. She loved and treasured spending time with her family, raising her children, and making lifelong memories.

Throughout Bettie’s career with the City of Dallas Police Department, she was known for her hard work, dedication and attention to detail.  She retired after 29 years of faithful service. Upon retirement, she looked forward to and enjoyed traveling with her family and extended church family. Her hobbies included gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing card games, and quilting. She kept active by exercising with her silver sneakers friends at the Singing Hills Recreation Center.

At an early age Bettie accepted Christ into her life and served as faithful member of the Cedar Crest Church of Christ. Cedar Crest set the foundation that shaped her to be the woman we all have come to love. Her faith in GOD was truly evident through her kindness, generosity, support, wisdom, and the unwavering love she showed to those around her. She later placed her membership at the Beckley Heights Church of Christ where she continued her journey of faith growing through the preaching and teaching from the word of GOD at the Sunday worship services and Wednesday bible study. Her participation in Retreats, game nights and events at the church were added bonuses which only further strengthened her faith.

She leaves to mourn her passing a host of family and friends, her sisters and brothers of the Beckley Heights Church of Christ, Cedar Crest Church of Christ as well as the plethora of Churches of Christ across the DFW metroplex, her faithful friends of the Singing Hills Recreation Center, her professional and personal colleagues of the Dallas Police Department, and her fur-baby Winnie.

Bettie is survived by her children, Carlos Andrews (Debra), Reginald Brown Sr., Michael Brown, Gregory Brown (Theresa), and Bettina Brown; step-children, Lemmie Brown (Carolyn), Joel Brown, Patricia Preston; Sisters, Adella Jackson, Bonnie Andrews Allen (Gene); Brother, Billy Williams; Grandchildren, Jonathan Brown (Noel), Devin Brown, Khadijah Brown, Aaliyah Brown, and Ahmad Brown and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces/nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She is proceeded in death by her husband; Clemmie Brown Sr., Parents Joe, Jr and Earnest Andrews; Sisters Maxine Bellard and Imogene Andrews Lee; Stepchildren, Clemmie Brown Jr. and Paul Brown; Grandson, Reginald Brown Jr.

Her spirit and memory will be cherished by ALL who knew and loved her forever and ever!!
