Billy Joe Gray, Sr. was born on May 3, 1952, to the late Gosie and Easie Mae Gray in Bienville Parish, Arcadia, Louisiana. He peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
At an early age, Billy accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Saint Duty Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Arcadia, Louisiana. Later in life, he became a devoted member of New Birth Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, under the ministry of Pastor George Pryor.
Billy was a proud graduate of Crawford High School in Arcadia, Louisiana, Class of 1970. Following graduation, he relocated to Dallas, Texas, where he embarked on a successful career with Western Electric in the 1970s. The company later transitioned to Lucent Technologies, where he remained a dedicated employee until his retirement in 2001.
On June 29, 1991, Billy was united in Holy Matrimony to Dr. Regina Bynum-Gray. Their union was blessed with 34 years of love, companionship, and cherished memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gosie and Easie Mae Gray; sisters, Myrtis Gray-Durham, Ruth Gray, and Emma Jean Gray; brothers, Floyd Gray, Tommy Gray, and Melvin Lynn Gray.
Billy’s legacy will live on through his beloved wife, Dr. Regina Bynum-Gray; his three children: Brian Davis of Arcadia, Louisiana; Dr. MaShundra N. Gray of Red Oak, Texas; and Billy Joe Gray II (Allanté) of Waxahachie, Texas. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Charles Gray (Louise) of Red Oak, Texas, and Deacon Emery Gray (Dr. Linda) of Cedar Hill, Texas; sister, Lorine Gray of Arcadia, Louisiana; his cherished grandchildren, Brian Chad Davis, Jamen Davis, Bylin Gray, Aybian Gray, Ayllie-Allyné Gray, and Bynlie Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
