On Monday, November 18, 2024, our amazing angel, Bobbie Jean Smith, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mother Bobbie was 92 years old. A devoted mother, prayer warrior and faithful servant, she leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, faith, and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Today we mourn but we also celebrate the life and legacy of Mother Bobbie. Mother Bobbie had a heart for people and a passion for teaching them about Jesus. Mother Bobbie was an active member in many churches throughout her life, most notably Tabernacle Baptist in Dallas, Texas where she earned her licensed missionary to teach the gospel. Many people within her faith community and family called her first when they needed prayer. Her devotion to God shaped her into a seasoned prayer warrior. She was known for her powerful prayers, which gave a feeling of God being present in the room and a direct connection to heaven. Throughout her life, her faith touched so many lives, and she praised God's goodness, believing that through Christ, all things were possible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Hillard Smith and Fannie Pullum. Her four brothers, Leroy Smith, Nathaniel Smith, Clarence Smith and Douglas Smith and two sisters, Gloria Mae Mallard and Floria Mae Taylor Johnson, and sons, Sammy Carter and James Cotton.
Bobbie leaves to cherish her loving memories: three daughters; Juanita Jones, Darling “Dolly” Jennings and spouse Ronald Jennings, and Tecola Galmore; son; Alvin Carter and spouse Patricia Carter Gray; grandchildren: Beena Kelly, Cynthia Fonteneaux, Anita “Dee Dee” Pruitt, Alvin Kennard Gray, Brandon Javon Carter Gray, Dwight Smith, Tiffany Galmore, and H Williams; twenty great grands, six great-great grands and a host of family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were blessed to know her.
