Mrs. Bonnie Evans Jenkins was born on October 23, 1936, to Henry and Gertude Cofer Evans in La Rue, Texas. She professed Christ at an early age, where she was a member of Union Station A.M.E. Church in LaRue, Texas. She later became a member of St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed.
She met and married Mack C. Cumby, Sr. and to this union two sons were born. Later she met Henry Curtis Jenkins and helped raise his five children.
Bonnie was employed with the Dallas Independent School District for many years until she retired.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Gertrude Evans, brothers Edward, Henry, Ester, Dan, & Olious, Sr. and daughter Regina Jenkins.
She leaves to celebrate her homegoing, Mack C. Cumby, Jr. (Margaret) of DeSoto, Texas, George E. Cumby (Rose) of Tyler, Texas, Kenneth Jenkins of Dallas, Texas, Pastor Keith Jenkins (Kimberly) of Lewisville, Texas, Kennard Jenkins of Dallas, Texas, and Rolanda Jenkins-Myles of Duncanville, Texas. One sister, Juanita Evans Tillman of DeSoto, Texas, and brothers Jeffrey Evans, Sr. (Charlotte) of Fort Worth, Texas, Allison Evans of Mesquite, Texas, Leo Evans (Patricia) of Dallas, Texas, and Ira Evans (Brenda) of LaRue, Texas; 5 grandchildren: Quentus Cumby (Elizabeth), Mack C. Cumby, III, Brittney Cumby, Sharonda Bynum Fisher and Christopher Bynum, 15 great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
