Ms. Bridget Leanette Goree was born on March 10, 1971, in Carthage, Texas to Claudine Goree and Leonard E. Scott. Bridget grew up attending public school in Carthage where she excelled academically and graduated with honors. She was a member of the CHS marching band and chorus. After graduating from high school, Bridget attended Panola Jr. College for one year before transferring to Sam Houston State University. Bridget was a member of the Panola College Chamber singers, as well as participating in the SMSU chorus.
While at SHSU, Bridget studied Music, and graduated with a double major in English and Spanish with the class of 1993. After graduating from SHSU, she did her student teaching at Henderson Independent School District. Bridget taught English at Longview High School for several years before relocating in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. After relocating, Bridget returned to school to obtain her master’s degree, while working full-time. Bridget worked for Richardson Independent School District, Dallas Independent School District, and Mesquite Independent School District for a total of 27 years teaching and mentoring the students that she loved so much.
It was important for Bridget to get the best out of her students, and in return she gave them the best of herself. She enjoyed music and blessed others with her beautiful voice at every opportunity. Bridget loved spending time with her friends and spoke of them often. She loved the Lord and would say she continued to work on herself. Bridget also loved her family and would fiercely protect them when needed. Most of all Bridget loved her late mother, whom she called for in the final hours of life, “I want to go home; I want to see Mama”.
Bridget departed this earthly life on Sunday, October 2, 2022. She was preceded in death by her mother, Claudine Cooper Goree; sister, JoAnn Goree; grandmothers, Lurina Cooper and Emma Lee Scott-Marry; grandfathers, Willis Jones and Claude Marry; aunts, Audie M.
