Cametha Necole Thompson- Lewis was born January 28, 1973, in Tyler, Texas to Alfred Thompson and Jacqueline Thompson- Carwell. Cametha graduated from Winona High School in 1991 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University, majoring in Speech Pathology. She continued her education at Ashford University, obtaining a master’s degree, with an emphasis in Special Education.
Cametha married Bobby Lewis November 19, 2000, in Ocho Rios Jamaica. To this union of more than 23 years, one child was born, Kaitlyn Lewis. Cametha and family later relocated to Desoto, Texas in 2002.
Cametha had a deep passion and love for helping children and spent more than 25 years as a Speech Language Pathologist professional providing speech therapy services. She enjoyed helping children overcome communication challenges in the Garland Independent School District (GISD) and Dallas Independent School District (DISD).
As a child, Cametha was a member of the Greater St Mary’s Baptist Church of Tyler, Texas where she accepted Christ at an early age. After moving to Desoto, she joined Antioch Fellowship Church. Cametha loved her church family and served on the Usher Ministry. Cametha was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She was an active member of the Omicron Mu Omega chapter.
Cametha departed this life on Friday, August 23, 2024. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, Bobby Lewis; daughter, Kaitlyn Lewis; father, Alfred Thompson; mother, Jacqueline Carwell; one brother, Marques Thompson; mother- in law, Melidean Butler, two brother-in laws, James Hunter and Ronald Lewis, and one sister-in-law, Brenda Hunter, and a host of aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
