A beloved mother, grandmother, Aunt and friend whose warmth and charismatic spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her. A Life Well Lived Carolyn began her earthly journey on June 16, 1947, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, born to John and Codell Lewis. On March 31, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family, she peacefully transitioned into the arms of the Lord.

Carolyn was educated in the Hopkins County School District before moving to Dallas to attend Allstate Business College. She later embarked on a distinguished career with Federal Express Corp., where she dedicated many years until her retirement. Not one to remain idle, she began a second chapter with the Dallas Independent School District, where she spent another decade serving the school community part-time before retiring for a final time.

She was a faithful member of Community Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Oscar D. Epps, Senior Pastor. She deeply loved her church family and in May 2022 she joined the CMBC Music Ministry as a choir member. Prior to joining CMBC, she was a member of The Potter’s House under the leadership of Bishop T.D. Jakes and was an active member of their choir as well.

Affectionately known throughout Dallas as the “Cake Lady”, she would be seen around the Dallas area selling and generously donating her delicious cakes. Beyond her kitchen, she lived life to the fullest, traveling the world, swing-out dancing, and cherishing every moment spent with her beloved family and friends.

Carolyn loved her son Jacaine and family tremendously with all of her heart. She so loved her dear community at The Rose in Cedar Hill and her longtime FedEx family. She was the self-proclaimed “Diva” of our Family. Carolyn will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, as well as a cherished Aunt, great Aunt, cousin, and friend.

She was a true free spirit, sassy, jazzy, and full of life. We will miss her beautiful smile and outgoing personality. Her presence will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

Carolyn was reunited in Heaven with her parents and her siblings, Thomasina Craig and Billy Wayne Lewis. Her vibrant spirit and precious memories will be forever cherished by her devoted son, Everett Jacaine Johnson of Dallas, and her bonus daughter, Tapeka Morgan (and husband Steve) of Rockwall. Carolyn’s legacy of love continues through her eleven grandchildren, Devin, Latriece, Jakayla, Jakari, Ciara, Kyla, Jacaine Jr., Javarea, Janiah, Jaylin, Ava, Briasia and Serenity; her great-grandchild, Inari. She also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews: Jeanette Walton (James), Marilyn Majors (Jesse), Sandra Skinner (Ken), Jessie Craig, Don Craig (Joann), Denise Wilson, Ladell Craig and Tony Craig. First cousin Billy Wayne Jr. A close-knit circle of great nieces, nephews, along with a wide community of 'greats' and dear friends who were like family to her.
