Carolyn was born June 14, 1948, to the late Herbert Carter Sr. and Lillian Carter in Dallas, Texas. She was the third child of five children, three sisters Iva Jean Johnson, Whilmia Duncan, Lavonia Rhone, and two brothers, Herbert Carter Jr. and Donald Carter.
She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas. She also received her associate degree in business from Mountain View College. Not long after she retired from the United States Postal Service after 35 years. Carolyn professed her faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church pastored by Reverend G.B. Prince and later joined Community First Baptist Church under Reverend C.H. Gerald.
She walked with Jesus all her life and we have no doubt that she is now in His Arms and has obtained the Victory and her Crown in Glory. Thank God for her faithful and dedicated life and the Spiritual Legacy she has left us all.
Carolyn, the mother of two children was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Harper; daughter, Keila Dunbar; both parents, Herbert and Lillian Carter-Rhone; sisters, Iva Jean Johnson and Lavonia Rhone, and brother, Donald Carter.
She is survived by her son, Paul L. Dunbar Jr.; four grandchildren, Paul Dunbar III, Silas Dunbar, A’jene’ Dunbar, and Eden Dunbar; one brother, Herbert Carter Jr. (Yolanda); two cousins, Surona Massey and Kevin Calhoun, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
