Charles Brandon was born on November 2, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, to Evelene and Marvin Brandon, Sr. He was the fourth child of seven and grew up surrounded by a large and loving family.
Charles began his Christian life at an early age and was baptized at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. Over the years, his faith remained central to his life. In Dallas, he was a member of Jordan Missionary Baptist Church, Greater Ideal Baptist Church, and at the time of his passing, he was a devoted member of Mt. Rose Church.
He attended Dallas Public Schools and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1976, where he proudly played on the football team. Following graduation, Charles enlisted in the United States Navy. He served with honor until his retirement in 1991, earning numerous achievements during his years of service.
After his military career, Charles continued his life of service by working for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1997. Known for his dedication, reliability, and cheerful spirit, Charles built lasting friendships in every chapter of his life.
Charles was united in marriage to Jody Brandon. Together they raised their beloved twins, Christopher and Kristen. He was also a proud grandfather to his grandson, Harlem Andrews, of Dallas.
A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, Charles enjoyed cheering on his team, spending time with family, and sharing stories from his Navy days. According to Charles, he was the master pool shark.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Brandon, Sr.; two brothers, Larry and David Brandon; grandparents, Sterling and Lovie Anderson of Austin, and Jim and Golden Brandon of Snyder, Texas, nephew, Quincy Brown; three uncles, Freddie Anderson, Charles Anderson, Sterling Anderson, and aunt, Earlene Thompson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his twins, Kristen and Christopher Brandon; his grandson, Harlem Andrews; two sisters, Shirley Brandon of Dallas, Texas and Marlene Cash (Joe) of Tyler, Texas; three brothers, Marvin (Patricia) Brandon and Kevin Brandon of Kansas City, and Kenneth (Michelle) Brandon of Tampa, Florida; his niece, Sheteria Lee of Forney, Texas, and her three children; nephew, Brandon Thomas and his son; his first cousin who was like a sister, Rubye Potts of Dallas, and his uncle, Eugene Anderson of San Diego, California. Charles will also be dearly missed by his very special, long-time friends Billie Ray and Rod Butler of Dallas, and Darren Townsend of Dover, Delaware; and a host of cousins, second cousins, and wonderful friends.
Charles will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to his family, and the joy he brought to every room he entered. His legacy of love, service, and kindness will live on in all who knew him.
