Charles “Skeeter” Slaughter was born July 2,1950, to parents, Willie and Mable Slaughter. Skeeter grew up in West Dallas on West Maine Street. He received his education in the Dallas Independent School District. He was a member of the football team, track team and photography club. After high school, he attended Navarro College.
After college, he was employed by the Merchants Trucking Company. Skeeter worked there for many years; he was a dedicated employee until his retirement.
Skeeter loved to watch sports. His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. You could catch him in his Cowboys gear at any time. He was also a lover of smooth jazz, R&B and gospel. Some of his favorites were Stevie Wonder, Maze, Kenny G, Earth, Wind & Fire, just to name a few. Skeeter loved his TV shows Law and Order, Criminal Minds, and NCIS. Oh yes, he loved to play cards & dominos and talked a lot of trash. He also loved classic cars. If you know him, then you know about his white 68 Camaro.
Skeeter accepted Christ at an early age at the Lone Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles Reed. In March 1967, Skeeter and his family united with the Community First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor C.H. Gerald. While at Community First, he was a member of the choir. Later, he joined Greater Community First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor LaCedric Williams. At GCFBC, he was a member of the choir and faithful to his church until his health started to fail. Skeeter was a believer in God and served him at all times.
Skeeter met and married Judy Jackson and in that union 3 children were born: Sherrye, Cartney, and Chasidi “Moochie”. He later married Jackie Randall; they shared a daughter, Jacquelyn.
He departed this earthly life on April 15, 2025. Preceding him in death are his parents, Willie and Mable Slaughter; brother, Willie; two sisters, Velma & Alice; and one grandson, Dominic “Nico”.
