Charles Garland "Bae Bro" White Jr., age 73, who gave his life to the Lord, received his crown of glory on April 4, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend, Charles lived a life and left a legacy of service, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family, friends and community. Born on May 14, 1951, in Petersburg, Virginia, to Bertha Catherina White and the late Charles Garland White Sr. He grew up in Petersburg and graduated from Peabody High School before continuing his education at Norfolk State University. His academic journey laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to education and mentorship.
Charles dedicated much of his professional life to shaping young minds as a teacher and coach within the Dallas Independent School District. His influence extended beyond the classroom and athletic fields—he also served as a counselor at Parkland Hospital, offering guidance and support to those navigating some of life’s most difficult challenges. Whether coaching students or counseling patients, Charles brought compassion, strength, and an unshakable sense of purpose to every role he embraced.
Noble Charles White was a proud Shriner and member of Medji Temple 45. Charles was deeply involved in his community and affectionately known as Uncle Charles or Uncle Charlie. Brother Charles White was also a dedicated Mason and belonged to Bethesda 168, PHA. His dedication to helping others was evident in every aspect of his life—from mentoring youth to extending kindness to those in need. He was known for being prepared for any situation and always having a plan or solution at hand.
Charles was a man of many gifts: a great friend with a sharp wit; a loving husband who cherished his wife; a devoted father who guided his children with wisdom; a protective brother; and a doting grandfather who found joy in the laughter of his grandchildren. In loving partnership with his wife he honored, loved and cared for his mother daily with deep respect and care.
He is survived by his mother, Bertha Catherina White; his soul mate and wife, Donna Shelton White; his beloved children—Rudy Lamar Symonette, Ashley Christina White, and Shari Priscilla White; and his dearest grandchildren—Sinsir Caleb Symonette and Promise Symonette. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Garland White Sr., and his sister, Priscilla Ann White Lewis.
Charles will be remembered not only for the roles he played but for the spirit he carried—wise yet warm-hearted; stylish yet humble; musically inclined with an ear for songs that moved both heart and feet. He had an unmistakable presence—always sharp-dressed with a signature scent—and an open heart that welcomed all.
