Corliss Jean Mack was born on February 15, 1948 to Tom Mack and Mattie B. Mack in Shreveport, Louisiana. She received her primary education in Louisiana Independent School District and later relocated and received her high school diploma in Dallas, Texas. She later furthered her education attending Nelson’s Beauty College.
She accepted Christ at an early age and has always been a very active and faithful member of the Exciting Singing Hills Baptist Church.
She worked as a clerk for a few years at Autry’s Grocery Store. She also served as Vice President of Newton Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc.
Corliss was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and great friend who was very opinionated.
Corliss J. Newton departed this earthly life on October 4, 2020. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Mack; father, Tom Mack; siblings, James Alex Sr., Jerry Alex, JoAnn Alex, Connie Mack, Connell Mack, and Creola Mack; one grandchild, Christopher Hollins.
She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, those who love and have loved her dearly, her husband of 56 years, Jessie G. Newton who misses her dearly; children, Alonzo L. Newton (Perdita), Creola Newton, Tommie Davis (Regina), Debra Thomas (Norris), LeiDon Blanco (Akeema); nineteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Vanessa Brown Newton, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
