DeAnura Simmons-Wiggins Obituary

DeAnura Danyil Simmons-Wiggins was born on October 10, 1981, in Dallas, Texas, to the loving parentage of Willie Green and Bobbet Simmons. She was the oldest of three children.

Affectionately known as “Tweety” by her family and friends, she entered the world three months early—a true miracle. Though tiny at birth, she was beautiful, healthy, and strong, a living testament to the resilience that would define her life.

Tweety’s Christian journey began through baptism at Faithful Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. N.C. Sargent. Later in life, she united with Friendship-West Baptist Church, worshipping faithfully with her husband and children.

Her educational path began in the Desoto Independent School District, where she attended elementary and middle school. Embracing change and new opportunities, she transferred to David W. Carter High School, graduating in 2000. She continued her studies at Texas College, where she became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in the Spring of 2002. Driven and determined, she completed her bachelor’s degree at Northwood University.

Education was Tweety’s passion. She cherished the joy of teaching and had a natural gift for working with children. Her creativity, leadership, and genuine love for her students made her a shining light in every classroom she entered. She dedicated over 20 years of service to the Dallas Independent School District, leaving an impact on countless young lives.

Tweety was a devoted wife and mother. Her journey into motherhood began in 2003 with the birth of her first son, Kendall. In March of 2008, she married the love of her life, Kendrick Wiggins Sr. Together they welcomed twins, Kayden and Kendrick Jr. Her youngest son, Kasen, completed their family in 2015. Her bonus daughter, Mikayla, also held a special place in her heart.

On November 2, 2025, Tweety gained her heavenly wings. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Bobbet Simmons; her grandparents, Hemp and Dorothy; and her uncles, Wayne and Ricky.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Kendrick Wiggins Sr.; her children, Kendall Hatten, Kayden Wiggins, Kendrick Wiggins Jr., Kasen Wiggins, and Mikayla Wiggins; her father, Willie Green; her sister, Aurstrina Green; her brother, Curdarence Chambers; her in-laws, Sharon Wiggins, Leo and Paula Allen; her sister-in-law, Kendra Wiggins; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Tweety’s love, strength, and light will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
