Derek Lee

Derek Andre Lee, Sr., a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend passed away peacefully at his home on February 18, 2024.Derek was born on May 25, 1972 to the parents of Arthur and Bessie Lee in Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Billy Smith.He married Demetria "Cookie" Turner on February 23, 1996 in Dallas, Texas.Derek is the father of Deidra, Derek Jr., and Dontavian.

In 1990, he graduated from Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Hutchins, Texas. He was previously employed with Bullett Beverage, Miller Beer, Medlock Youth Facility and Oak Farms.Derek enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing dominoes with his family and friends. He was a faithful Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Maverick fan. He was very fashionable and enjoyed the finer things in life such as cars, jewelry, clothes and sneakers.

He was affectionately called, "Big Lee and D.Lee" by his friends, but Papa was the title he loved the most.

Derek leaves to cherish his memories:  Devoted wife of 28 years Demetria Lee, loving children Deidra "Nikki" Lee (Donnie), Derek "Stubby" Lee Jr. (Cleneisha) and Dontavian Willis. Grandchildren: Summer Ariane, Samerah Jae, Derrion, Devin and Dominic. Siblings: Lisa Lee Jacobs (Myron) and Arthur Lee, Jr.. Aunts/Uncle:  Estelle Woodard ,Leona Smith, David Smith, Jr. Along with his nephews DeMarcus Jordan (Bree) & Desmond Lee and nieces Domonique Jordan, Diamond Jordan, & Brittni Irving (Courtney) and a host of In-laws, cousins and friends that loved him dearly.
