Donald Dey Cassidy was born on September 27, 1941 to the parentage of the late Orlando and Pearl Dey in Syracuse, New York. Donald was later adopted by William and Beatrice Cassidy of Cleveland, Ohio where he was raised in a loving home. After high school Donald enlisted into the United States Army where he discovered a passion for serving his country. He met the love of his life, Rozella Ballard in 1977 and the two wed on July 8, 1978. After serving 25 years in the United States Army, Donald was honorably discharged with numerous awards and decorations.
After his faithful and dedicated military career, Donald obtained employment at Crucible Steel where he would retire. It was not long before Donald discovered that he was not yet ready for the retirement life and obtained employment with the Centro Bus Service in Syracuse, New York. After a second retirement from Centro Bus Service, he and his wife Rozella relocated to the Dallas, Texas area in 2005. After the move Donald entered the workforce yet again and obtained employment with Echo Bus Service in Dallas, Texas where he would finally retired in 2020.
On July 1, 2021 Donald succumbed to his brave battle with leukemia with his wife by his side. Donald Dey Cassidy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beatrice Cassidy; his daughter, Valerie Reid, as well as his brothers, Dennis and Adrian Dey. Donald leaves to forever cherish his memory his devoted wife of 43 years, Rozella Cassidy; his children, Khaz (Kim) Rael, Ardella (Ricky) Clark, Dawnetta Cassidy, Tina Cassidy, LaTisha Cassidy, Gwendolyn (Pernell) Mickens, and Jimmy (Vikki) Porch; adopted daughter, Kira (Elliott) Kennedy; his brother-in-law, Dock Ballard; his sister-in-law, Bernes Wagner; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of family, loved ones, and friends.
