Dora Mae Walton Williams was born on January 15, 1930, to J. T. “Bubber” Walton and Mary Lucy Jernigan Walton in Deberry, Texas. She was the older of two siblings. She was preceded in death by her brother, Hosea Walton.
Dora was educated in the Carthage Independent School District in the piney woods of East Texas (Panola County). After graduating high school, she moved to Shreveport, LA where she started to work in private homes until she met and married Calvin Williams in 1954. To their union was born fraternal twins, Carolyn Yvonne and Calvin Eugene. The family joined the Philadelphia Seventh-day Adventist Church in Shreveport, LA under the pastorship of Pastor Lewis Duke Henderson.
In 1967, Dora relocated to Dallas, TX with her children. She continued her education at El Centro College in pursuit of a nursing career. She became certified as both a Nurse Aide and Medication Aide, working in the healthcare profession until her retirement in 2002.
Dora was a member of the former Dallas City Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church until she transferred her membership to the Dallas Fellowship Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she was a charter member. Over the last year, Dora was unable to attend church often because of health issues.
Dora was a blessing to her children, her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, her church family, extended family members, and so many others.
On Thursday, May 8, 2025, Dora peacefully passed away in her sleep, now awaiting her Savior’s return. She leaves to cherish her life and to continue her legacy, her daughter; Carolyn Medlock (Elder Kenneth Ray) of Duncanville, Texas; son, Calvin Williams; granddaughter, Dr. Morgan Mallory Medlock; grandson, Marshall Myles Medlock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dora was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother; and a brother from another mother, Sol Hall (Mary Lou).
