Dorothy Avinger

Dorothy Margo Avinger was born in Pittsburg, TX to Mr. George Avinger, Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Collier Avinger. Few people knew her as Dorothy as she always went by Margo. She attended Center Point and Douglas High schools and graduated in 1960.

She was united in marriage to Bernard Franklin Johnson and to this union two children were born, Cecil Dwayne Johnson and Vicki LaShawn Johnson (Wood). She was later married to Billy Ray Reece.

Margo moved from Pittsburg to Dallas, TX to pursue a career with Texas Instruments. She held several positions with the company and worked there for 36 years until her retirement.

She accepted Christ at a young age and was a current and active member of Greater Community First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor LaCedrick Williams.

Margo is survived by daughter, Vicki Johnson Wood; son-in-law, Kevin Wood; grandson, Bryan Wood; great-granddaughter, Peyton Wood and many other relatives and close, personal, friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Sr. & Bessie Avinger; sisters, Vernell Jenkins and Orell Banks; brothers, George Avinger, Jr. and Eugene Avinger; and her son, Cecil Dwayne Johnson.
