With heavy hearts, we honor the life and legacy of Mrs. Dorris Jean Hudson Peoples. She was born on January 13, 1951, to Richard and Lela Hudson. She was raised in Dallas, Texas, where she attended Dallas public schools and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School.
At the age of thirteen, Dorris accepted Christ into her life and later became a devoted member of Dallas West Church of Christ. She carried quiet strength, a warm spirit, and a steady love that left a lasting impression on every life she touched.
She worked faithfully for Dallas Rapid Transit (DART) for over 15 years until her retirement. Her presence, kindness, and gentle heart were felt by everyone who knew her.
Dorris was blessed with two children: daughter, Vicky Hudson Darby and son, Alonzo Hudson. She leaves behind a lifetime of precious memories to be cherished by her beloved daughter, Vicky Hudson Darby; son-in-law, Byron Darby; and her grandchildren, grandsons, Alonzo Hamlett, Brentton Darby, Derlonzo Hudson; granddaughter, Darisha Franklin / Keare Franklin; great grandchildren, Alonna, Brianna, and Romeo Hamlett. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Teresa Banks, Annie Hudson, and Phyllis Hudson; and brother, Charles Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lela Hudson; her father, Richard Hudson; her son, Alonzo Hudson; two siblings, Rowena Hudson and Luther Hudson; and her nephew, Sidney Hudson Sr.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who loved her deeply.
Though we mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing she is in a better place and at peace. Her love, strength, beautiful spirit, and gentle heart will live forever in our hearts. Deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in eternal peace, Mother, your love remains with us always.
