Edward Charles Johnson was born on July 27, 1958, in Marshall, Texas, to John T. Johnson Sr. and Fannie Lou Johnson. He received his education in Marshall, graduating from Pemberton High School. Edward accepted Christ at an early age and was later baptized at East Dallas Church of Christ.
Affectionately called “Pa-Pa” by his grandchildren, Edward was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and co-worker. Though a quiet man of few words, his observant nature made his words impactful when he did speak. In his pastime, he enjoyed barbecuing on one of his many grills and smokers, and watching football, always cheering on his favorite teams—whatever team his sons or grandsons played for and the Dallas Cowboys. He always found time to help others, doing whatever he could to assist.
He leaves to cherish his memories and love his wife: Joyce; his children: Edward (April), Kriston, and Keith; his grandchildren: E’maziah, Emory, Edward, Morgan, Keithon, Byron, Nikeita, Kamilah, Devin, Jonathan, Ajà, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Keith Jr., and Brandon; 19 great-grandchildren; his brothers: John T. (Linda), Jessie R., Roger, and Timothy (Patsy); his sisters: Martha, Lorraine, and Peggy; a special niece and nephew, Jennell and John Dale; and a host of other relatives, and many friends.
