Erma Lee Davis-Mitchell, of Lancaster, Texas, affectionally known as “Red”, was born on March 31, 1935, in Kerens, Texas. She was the only child born to the union of Hubert Homer and Emma Louise Williams. Erma accepted Christ at an early age at 20th and Birch Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas.
Erma graduated with a GED from Dallas Independent School District. After graduation, Erma met and married Marvin Curry, who preceded her in death, and to their union one child was born, Venita Pettus, who also preceded her in death. In 1954, she met and married the love of her life, Francisco B. Obera 11, who preceded her in death and from this union two children were born: Francisco B. Obera 111 and Christopher P. Obera.
In 1971, Erma met and married Samuel Mitchell, who preceded her in death.
Erma graduated from a pilot program in dry cleaning in 1967. She worked in the dry-cleaning industry for many years. She was employed by Timber Lawn Mental Health facility and served as a Mental Health technician for more than 16 years. She was also employed by Parkland Hospital as a nursing assistant for several years. Her latest job before retirement was working for Home Instead as a caregiver.
Her memories will be survived and cherished by her two children, Francisco B. Obera 111 (Debra Obera), Christopher P. Obera (Vivian Obera); grandchildren, Marlo Obera, Francis Obera, Christopher Brown Obera, Christopher Obera11, Charletta Obera, Brayden Obera and Christa Obera: great-grandchildren: great-great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
