Floyd “Bubba/Junebug” Franklin, Jr was the second child of Floyd Franklin, Sr and Berlee Williams Franklin. He was born on June 1, 1932, much to the delight of his paternal grandmother. June 1st was her birthday and her first grandson was her birthday gift! Both parents have preceded him in death.
Floyd was educated in the Dallas School System. Although he did not finish high school, it did not stop him from serving his country. Bubba enlisted in the armed services. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and was Honorably Discharged in 1954. He met and married the love of his life, Emma Bell Jeffries Geter. This union shared 7 children (two have preceded him in death). They were a crazy fun couple who loved to travel and they treasured their family. Emma preceded him in death in 1996. Floyd’s career spanned several occupations. He was a mail truck driver, and he worked many years for Neuhoff Meat Company (boy did he give them a rough time legally). In a roundabout way, you could call him a jack-of-all-trades, but only a master of some. Bubba later met and married Mary Lavern Wright-Roberts. They enjoyed a loving relationship. Together, they served on the Single Senior’s Ministry until her death in 2016.
Floyd was a fun-loving guy and he loved his family. Floyd believed in God and he accepted Christ in his adult years. He and Emma joined Baldwin Chapter Church of God in Christ in the 1970s. He and Emma later joined Saintsville Church of God in Christ. That is where he met his second wife. He was a faithful and dedicated member until his health failed him.
Floyd was preceded in death by both parents Floyd Sr and Berlee Franklin; wife-Emma Franklin; 2nd wife-Mary Franklin; two sons-Kirt Patrick Franklin and Eddie Geter; three brothers-Theodore Franklin, George Franklin, and Ocie Franklin; and all his sisters-Mary Henry, Alice Dixon, Jerrilene Franklin, and Josephine Ricks.
Those left to remember his smiling face are sons-Benjamin Franklin, Larry Franklin, Floyd Franklin III, and Derack (Michele) Franklin; daughter-Carolyn Franklin all of the DFW area; 8 grandchildren-Byron (Sherrichard) Geter, Houston; Dametra Williams, California; Chiquita Franklin, Kevin Franklin, Corey Franklin, Joanna Salaam (Ahmad), Valerie Alexander (LaPaul), and Eric Franklin (Corena), DFW area; 12-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; two brothers-Bennie Franklin and Joe Don Franklin, Dallas; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
