EARLY LIFE
George Olusola Adekoye Odufuwa was born in Lagos Island, Nigeria into the family of late Reverend Dr. Emmanuel Ayodele Odufuwa, a clergyman, a church Founder, and his wife, princess (Snr Deaconess) Josephine Mojisola Odufuwa, both of blessed memory.
'Sholly Bobo' as he was fondly called, spent his early years in Lagos Island. He attended St. David’s Anglican Primary School, Okesuna Street, Lagos Island before proceeding to the prestigious Abeokuta Grammar School, in Abeokuta City, for his secondary education, where he got accolades for his athletic prowess. Often representing his school, and Ogun State in several state athletic meets, he was an ardent lover and fan of soccer and track.
YANKEE DOODLE
George had a brief yet passionate involvement in the 1979 presidential election with the revolutionary party, Nigeria Advance Party (NAP), a political party founded by his late uncle, Dr. Tunji Braithwaite, also of blessed memory. However, he left the shores of Nigeria shortly afterwards for the United States of America in August of 1980 and settled in Dallas, TX where he resided honorably until his death.
With his love for politics, he pursued a career in criminal justice. However, in order to provide for his family, he transitioned into a career in transportation. He knew the ins and outs of the Dallas Forth Worth metroplex, some would consider him a human “Mapsco”.
THE FAMILY PILLAR
In 1975, he met his heartthrob Olushola Tawa, nee Ope of the Ope Lagos Dynasty. Thus, began their wonderful journey and story of love. After leaving for the U.S. in 1980. George was joined by His Sweetheart Tawa in May of 1982, and the rest is history. To God Be The Glory.
Today, this union is blessed with 5 lovely Children. – Bamidele, a financial analyst. A MAN OF FAITH
Born the son of a parson, George was born into a Christian home where church activities were almost a daily norm. Whilst in Nigeria he was a member of the Church Drama Group, and the Samuel Band. Upon arriving in the United States, he never abandoned his faith, and he was a founding member of the “C & S Church” (Ayo Ni O) in Dallas Texas in 1993 under the pastorship, and leadership of his eminence, Dr. Pastor Emmanuel Akinyemi. From the post of the Church P. R.O, he rose steadily to the post of a Church Elder, and the Baba Ijo (Church Patron) of Pathway Christian Fellowship Church located in Dallas, Texas. Amidst the many things to grieve during the pandemic there were many blessings to celebrate. George was transitioning to being an ordained pastor, but due to the pandemic the ordination service was delayed. George’s life was defined by his faith and even in his last days, he was committed to serving the Lord.
PEOPLE'S MAN
George was a prominent social bug and great entertainer, well loved by all, and the sundry. His humility, gentleness, calmness, diligence, honor, honesty, goodness, kindness, and above all, the love, and joy he radiated can never be underestimated nor forgotten. He was a selfless giver, always eager to reach out, and help the needy. He was indeed a beacon, and fountain of hope to everyone he encountered. We give all glory, honor, and adoration onto the unquestionable God of the Universe.
