George Pearl, Jr. Obituary

George G. Pearl Jr., aged 63, was born on October 2, 1961, in Mobile, Alabama, to Ellen Ruth Carter and George G. Pearl—both of whom have since passed away. Growing up in Mobile, George developed a talent for the arts and mechanics, excelling during his time at Toulminville High School.

After graduating in 1979, George followed his father’s example by joining the U.S. Army, where he served honorably for seven years. After his military service, he worked in various fields such as industrial cleaning and truck driving. Ultimately, he returned to his passion: automotive mechanics. This led to a long and distinguished career at FedEx, where he worked for over two decades before retiring. Even after retirement, George continued to pursue his craft at respected companies like Home Depot and later, Martin Transportation Systems, where he remained employed until his passing.

George also enjoyed restoring cars, particularly cherishing his work on a 1989 Mustang 5.0 and building a collection of model cars—a project he expanded with a 1995 Ford F150.

Later in life, George settled in Dallas, Texas, where he shared his life with his wife of more than 30 years, Lorine Thompson. He is survived by their children: Johnny Thompson, Lakeshia Thompson, and daughter-in-law Cheryl Thompson; grandchildren J-mall, Jesiah, Janelle, and Logan Thompson; and great-grandchildren Julian, Jordyn, and Jahzara Thompson. He also leaves behind an estranged biological daughter, Kristina Pearl.

Known for his honorable work ethic, quiet demeanor, and private nature, George devoted himself to caring for his family’s well-being. Although his relationship with his biological daughter was distant, he consistently sought to reconnect and build a bond with her. Today, George is fondly remembered and deeply missed by his extended family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him in various walks of life.
