Gloria Dean Williams Jones entered this world on Monday, June 20, 1938, in Marshall, Texas to parents Curtis Williams and Alta Mae Knighten Williams. She was raised by her grandmother Jane Knighten and Aunt Willie Womack. She received her education from Holy Spirit Catholic School and H.B. Pemberton High School in Marshall, Texas. She was baptized at an early age and later united with the Antioch Fellowship Church in Dallas, Texas.
Gloria was actively involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Programs and was a guest speaker at many events. She loved spending time with her family and dear friends at the Concord Church Center for Seniors. Everyone who knew her well knows a good slot machine was her favorite pastime. Gloria was a feisty firecracker and always the life of the party. She was a straight shooter with little or no filter but was loved for her realness and her ability to get things done. She was quick to tell you she was born in 1938 and had done and seen it all. Known as Granny to many, her presence will be missed.
She is preceded in death by parents, grandparents, brother Nathan; children, Jack, Therez, and Pamela, grandchildren, Antawan, Courtlyn, and Antonio Jr.
Those left to cherish her life, love, and legacy are her children, Antonio Washington, Theressa Washington, Grace Stoker, David Jones (Brenda), Theresa James (Mark), Sonya Jones, and Larry Jones (Deidra); grandchildren, Ramses, Brandon, Jamal, Eboni, LaKendra, Jasmine, Nevelyn, Briana, Giaon, Jerrell, Chris, Myron, and Demarcus; 25 great grandchildren, 9 great, great grandchildren; brother, Thomas McCoy; devoted cousins, Lucille Black, Alma (Leroy) Fields, and Tim Rector; special friends, Freddie Branch, and Carrie Davenport, along with a host of many other family members and friends.
