Gloria grew up attending school in Synder, Texas. She attended Lincoln High School in Synder, Texas. She went on to attend Dallas County Community College where she obtained an Associate Degree in Real Estate. She had many interests and a passion for learning new things, she was a natural born leader, Sunday school teacher, Mentor and Advisor. Gloria became a nurse and held many positions at various State Departments. She later changed her specialty to business and went on to work for major corporations such as ADP, H&R Block, Frito Lay Corporation, Bank of America, First American Title and Stewart Title. Gloria’s greatest passion was helping others in any way that she could whether it be cooking a meal, baking a cake, doing their taxes or most of all giving it to them honest and straight. 

 

She was a formidable woman that did not sugar coat what needed to be said or understood! Gloria had a love for Real Estate-Probate and serving others with knowledge and wisdom.

 

Gloria was born April 4, 1951, in Synder, Texas, Scurry County to Georgia Mae Terry and Rex Shipmon.

 

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Rex Shipmon and Georgia Mae Terry.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Sonobia Garrett, Monica Clayton-Jones and an inherited son, Adrian Ray (Antwon); grandchildren, Royce Garrett, II (Ravin), Xavier Weaver, Bronson Garrett, Jeanara Garrett, Taylor Ray-Dilworth (Dezmon), and Bryson Ray; five great-grandchildren, Scarlet Garrett, Jayce Hamilton, Royce Garrett, III, Greyson Garrett, and Zyon Ray; two sisters, Mary Thompson and Sharon Kirkwood and a host of inherited grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Devoted to her in her last days are some individuals she would like to acknowledge, and they are: Beauford Thompson, Jr. (nephew); Bernice Anderson (Inherited daughter), Shahara McCartney (Goddaughter) (Victor), Janell Barnes (Goddaughter), Jeanara Garrett, Xavier Weaver, Adrian Ray, Taylor Ray-Dilworth (Dezmon), Melanie Cleaver-Scott, Felecia Prince, Jennifer Juarez (Angel).
