Gwendolyn Walker

A Time to be born~ Ecclesiastes 3:2

Gwendolyn Joyce Pratt Walker was born to the union of the Late Leon and Mildred Joyce Page Pratt on June 1, 1940, in Dallas, Texas.  Gwendolyn was the eldest of four siblings. 

Blessed are the pure in heart~ Matthew 5:8

Gwendolyn religious foundation began at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas.  As an adult and upon the profession of her own faith, she was baptized and united with Forest Avenue Baptist Church.  During her Christian journey, she spent many years as a dedicated member of the Golden Gate Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas under the leadership of the Late Rev. C.B.T. Smith.  She was actively involved in the Sanctuary and Gospel Choirs.

Gwendolyn received her formative education from St. Anthony Catholic School graduating in 1954.  She attended high school at Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1960. 

Love is patient and kind~ 1 Corinthians 13:4

Gwen was united in holy matrimony to Everett Styles Walker.  To this union four children were born, Renee, Gregory, Rodney and Roderick.

Gwen worked for Texas Instrument for many years, developing a network of lifelong friends.  Gwen was later employed in private duty as a nanny for the Vernon family assisting lovingly with caring for Taylor and Lauren Vernon.  Her last job before retiring was for Jean Wisenbaker as a personal companion. 

Gwen was a loving and kind person always eager to lend a helping hand who rarely met a stranger.  Gwen loved laughter, dancing, traveling and cooking for friends and family.

I have fought a good fight~ 2 Timothy 4:7

On Monday, July 24, 2023, at the age of 83 years old, Gwendolyn answered the eternal call from labor to reward.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Edwin Dozier. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, 1 daughter; Renee Dozier, three Sons; Gregory, Rodney (Tammy), and Roderick, One sister; Marielle Pratt, Two Brothers, Leon Pratt (Dorothy) and Marvin Pratt (Dianne), Four Grandchildren; Edwin, Rynel, Ciera (Tuhran), Cameron, and Rodnekwa, Five Great-grandchildren; Tuhran II, Teagan, Erin, Brayden, and DeCyrus.
