Hannah Jeanette (Love) Blevins was born on June 19, 1942, in Linden, Texas to the parentage of Florence and Velma Lee (Jackson) Love, who preceded her in death. She was the fourth child born to this union. Growing up in Linden, Hannah ran track and played drums in the band at Fairview High School. After graduation, Hannah moved to Dallas, Texas.
In October 1960, Hannah met Joe Dean Blevins. Joe Dean swept Hannan off her feet, and they were married March 18, 1961, in Linden, Texas. From this union they had one child, Sherry. They shared over 54 years in marriage before Joe Dean preceded her in death in May 2015.
Hannah soon found her calling to help others in need and worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at St. Paul and Methodist Dallas hospitals. Hannah continued to further her education and attended El Centro College in Dallas, Texas in the 1970’s where she obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Hannah worked as a certified Mental Health nurse for over 30 years. Hannah also sold Tupperware for many years.
Hannah was a dedicated member of the Faithful Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of Reverend N.C. Sargent. She was a member of the choir, Nurse’s Guild, president of the Deaconess Board for over 30 years, and the Silver Ministry. Hannah’s passion for God and learning led her to attend Southern Bible Institute in Dallas, Texas, where she obtained an Associate Degree in Bible Studies.
Hannah is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Dean Blevins; her brothers, Willie Love, Sr., Harvey Love, and Vernon Love.
Hannah leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter, Sherry Blevins-Green (Alton); grandchildren: Louis J. Levine III (Elizabeth), Adrian J. Nixon, Kourtne M. Nixon, Astin Green, Beau Green (Kolona), and A’Naiyah Haley-Green; fourteen great-grandchildren, three nieces, and a nephew who will cherish her memory forever.
