Horace Johnson began life’s journey on September 26, 1945, in Jefferson, Texas to the union of Marvin and Bennie Gray Johnson. The family later moved to Red Oak, Texas where he received his formal education in the Midlothian public schools. Horace confessed a Hope in Christ at an early age and enjoyed attending worship services. Years later, Horace met and married Vera Bush Johnson on February 16, 1970 and to this union two children were born. Horace loved his family and worked hard to provide for them.
They later moved to Dallas, Texas where he was employed at Sears for many years. He was a faithful, long-time employee until his retirement.
Horace’s past time was spent enjoying friends, family, playing dominoes, watching football, (Dallas Cowboys of course), westerns and making others laugh. Although work and other things took Horace away from attending services, he stayed faithful to reading God’s word.
After a long battle with health issues, his earthly journey ended and his eternal journey began August 20, 2021. Horace was preceded in death by his wife, Vera; parents, Marvin and Bennie Gray Johnson; one sister, Minnie Johnson Garner and, one brother, Willie Morris Johnson.
Those remain to celebrate his life and to cherish his precious memories: his daughter, Sharonda, one son-in-law; one son, Horace D.; two sisters, Velma and Joan Johnson; one sister in love, two grandsons, and seven great grandchildren, all of Dallas, Texas. Innumerable friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly, and look forward to seeing him again. Rest well our beloved.
