Jamal De’Shun Patterson was born in Dallas Texas on June 20,1994 to parents of Mechelle Handsome and Stanley Patterson. Jamal attended A.W. Brown Charter School and graduated from Cedar Hill High School. While at Cedar Hill Jamal was an athlete who competed at the varsity level in football and track. Jamal was also a member of Concord Church where he was baptized at an early age. At Concord, Jamal was a member of various youth ministries including the Concord Youth Choir as well as Zoe Posse (step-team). Jamal was known as a very energetic youth who had loved life and rarely met a stranger.
Upon graduation, from Cedar Hill High School Jamal attended Doane University, a private university in Crete, Nebraska as a student-athlete where he played football. He later graduated from Peloton College in Dallas, Texas as a Medical Assistant. Afterwards begin working at Omega Rehabilitation & Spine. Soon after, Jamal began working as a fitness instructor and was planning to enlist in the United States Navy.
Jamal is preceded in death by Lola Patterson (paternal grandmother), Artis Weaver (paternal grandfather), and Derrell Jamal Manning (brother).
Jamal leaves behind Claude & Bobbie Manning (maternal grandparents), Mechelle and Eric Handsome (mother and stepfather), Stanley and Angela Patterson (father and stepmother), Jazmin Pettit, Stanza and Stanicia Patterson (sisters), Braylon Hamilton (stepbrother), Erica Hamilton (stepsister), and three children (Nyla, Jamal Jr, and Charm) as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jamal will be remembered as a young man who loved his kids, family, friends, and life.
