James Sanders, Sr. Obituary

James Lee Sanders, Sr. was born on March 13, 1940 to William Sanders, Sr. and Verna Baily Sanders of Doyline, Louisiana. He attended Bell Middle School and Webster High School in Minden, Louisiana.

He professed his faith in Christ at an early age and united with The Saint Mary CME Church in Doyline, Louisiana where he remained a faithful member until he moved to Dallas, Texas. There he met and married Ollie Mae Langston and to this union five children were born.

James worked as a truck driver for Darr Equipment and later for General Motors, however his desire was to be an entrepreneur. Having passion he would later form Triple S Record Shop which eventually progressed to become Oak Cliff Records in the heart of Oak Cliff. His dream of entrepreneurship was a success but he later decided to liquidate and move on after over 20 years in the music business. In the quote of the late great James L. Sanders, Sr., “Before any success is God. If you don’t have God, your success is no good.” He would later become a faithful member and servant in the Marsalis Avenue Church of Christ until his call to glory.

James Lee Sanders, Sr. departed this earthly life on May 25, 2020. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, William Sr. and Verna Sanders; beautiful sister, Alberta Banks and beautiful daughter, Caroline Dobb. He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Donetta Sanders Bethany (Herman) and Debra Davis; four sons, James Lee Sanders, Jr. (Sharla), John Sanders (Lakeshia), Ivory Sanders (Lisa), and Leroy Sanders (Ann); brother, William Sanders, Jr.; along with a host of other loving family members including his twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, nieces, nephews, those he considered his brothers and sisters in Christ, and numerous friends.
