James Washington Obituary

James Edward Washington, he was born on January 2, 1956, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to James Jordan and Annie Marie Liddell. He received his education at Caddo Parish at Shreveport. He graduated from Huntington High School.

On April 3, 1976, James united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Carlene Wrightsil. Their marriage was a beautiful testament of love, commitment, and partnership. Together they shared 42 wonderful years of marriage until her passing. Their union created a foundation of strength, love, and family that continues to live on through their children and grandchildren. In a touching reflection of their everlasting bond, James and Carlene were called home to be with the Lord on the same day, seven years apart.

James was a hardworking and devoted man who faithfully worked for Atmos Energy for 36 years. He took great pride in his work and believed strongly in providing for and protecting his family. Those who knew him respected his dedication, quiet strength, and dependable spirit.

Above all, James was a family man. He loved deeply and carried a calm and steady presence that brought comfort to those around him. His greatest joy was spending time with his daughters and watching his grandchildren grow.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carlene Wrightsil Washington; his parents, James Jordan and Annie Marie Liddell; his brothers, Carlton Liddell, Marvin Liddell, and Jeffery Liddell; and his baby sister, Priscilla Liddell.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his daughters, LaToya Charmett Washington and PeLaura Mone’t Washington; grandsons, Semaj Emon Washington-Fry, Semon Jey Washington-Fry, Paul Nathan Washington-Garrett Jr., and granddaughter, Anajah Necole Bennett. James is also survived by his only living sibling, Marvine Liddell Wilson. He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved godchildren, David R. Burnley Jr., Terry Lynn Ross, and Jane’t T. McCallister, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that James now rests in God’s eternal peace. His life was a blessing, his love was a gift, and his memory will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved him. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
