Janice Bailey Obituary

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, our loving God, in His infinite wisdom, called His faithful servant, Janice Lanese Bailey, from labor to reward. Born on July 5, 1966, Janice lived a life filled with grace, faith, intelligence, and devotion to family and community.  Janice was born to the late Eddie Roy Bailey and Elois Jean Spencer-Bailey, who both preceded her in death. From a young age, she displayed a spirit of determination, leadership, and excellence that would follow her throughout her life.

Janice attended Wilmer-Hutchins High School, graduating with the Class of 1984. During her high school years, she stood out as both a scholar and a leader. She was crowned Miss Wilmer-Hutchins, served proudly as the Head Band Drum Major, and graduated as the Valedictorian of her class. Her accomplishments reflected her dedication, discipline, and remarkable intellect.

She went on to attend Prairie View A&M University, where she continued her pursuit of excellence. Janice graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Accounting, demonstrating the same academic brilliance she had shown throughout her earlier years.

Janice began her professional career as an Auditor with the United States Department of Agriculture, a position that allowed her to travel throughout the United States. She carried out her responsibilities with integrity, diligence, and professionalism.

As life's seasons changed, Janice embraced another beautiful chapter-motherhood. Becoming the mother of her beloved son, Joey Bailey, was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She cherished him deeply and poured her love, guidance, and strength into his life.

At an early age, Janice professed her love for the Lord and was baptized in the Christian faith. She was a devoted and faithful member of Oliver Hill Baptist Church, where she served joyfully in the choir and faithfully as Junior Mission President, working diligently to uplift and guide young people in their walk with Christ. Later in life, she also worshipped with First Baptist Church in Terrell, and First Baptist Church in Forney.

Janice will always be remembered for her kind spirit, sharp mind, leadership, and unwavering love for her family. Her life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and grace.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her beloved son, Joey Bailey; her sisters Patrice Bailey, Andrea Bailey-Smith (Everett), and LaShawna Bailey; her niece Anecia Smith and nephew Arnez Smith; her aunts Betty Spencer-Burnett (Robert) of Forney, TX, and Linda Spencer of Kansas City, MO; uncle Dr. Oliver W. Spencer, Jr. (Anita) of Charlotte, NC; and cousins Oliver Wendell Spencer III of Cincinnati, OH, George Frederick Spencer (Shawanda) of Waxhaw, NC, and Shannon Neal Elijah (Richard) of Kansas City, MO, along with many extended family members, and dear friends who loved her deeply.
