Jewell Jeanette McGee was born in Marshall, Texas to the union of Samuel and Viola Armstrong on March 13, 1929. She passed away peacefully the afternoon of June 27, 2020 after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers the last days of her life.
Jewell received her education in Marshall, Texas. Graduating from Wiley College where she received a Bachelor of Science.
Jewell was joined in marriage to Truman Wayne McGee in 1954, he preceded her in death in 2002. One son was born to their marriage, Thomas Wayne McGee, who also preceded her in death in 2000.
After graduating from Wiley College, Jewell and her family set off to Arizona where she was an Elementary School Teacher for the Navajo Indian Reservation for 28 years. After retiring in 1983, Jewell moved to Longview, Texas where she and her husband Truman Wayne McGee lived out their lives. Jewell loved gardening, taking care of her flowers and feeding her beloved many different birds. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoying life.
She is survived by her brother, Samuel J. Armstrong (Patricia), a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends that loved her dearly.
