JoAnn McDonald Obituary

Mrs. Joann McDonald, daughter of the late R.C. McGhee and Ressie (Hendrix) McGhee, was born on May 20, 1954, in Nashville, Arkansas. She departed this life on January 9, at 12:50 p.m., at Dallas Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Joann was united in marriage to the late Billy S. McDonald Jr., and to this union four children were born. During Billy’s years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, Joann stood faithfully by his side. Together, they lived in various locations throughout the United States and Europe, embracing each new assignment with strength, grace, and a shared commitment to family. Her steady support was a cornerstone of their life as a military family.

She was a devoted member of the First Church of God, where she found fellowship, spiritual grounding, and lifelong friendships.

A loving mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother, Joann’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. With many of them active in sports, she proudly supported them—cheering from the stands or watching their games on television. Her nurturing spirit, strong will, and generous heart shaped the lives of everyone around her.

Joann enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and family, and sharing laughter and conversation. She worked faithfully until her retirement from Domtar Paper Company, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Whitney McDonald.

Joann leaves to cherish her memory: her children—Billy S. McDonald III (Monica) of Mesquite, Texas; Jason McDonald of Atlanta, Georgia; and Laressa McDonald of Forney, Texas.  She is also survived by her brother, Ray C. (Audry) McGhee of Desoto, Texas.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jayden McDonald, Koby McDonald, Justice McDonald, Kayden McDonald, Mynissa (Shaquille) Hamilton, Mason McDonald, and her step‑granddaughter Brooklynn Agnew, along with her great‑grandchildren and a host of extended family members, church family, and friends who loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed.
