Joyce Marie Wysinger was born on February 21, 1948, in Chicago, IL to Madglene and Ralph Laurence, who preceded her in death. She attended Englewood High School. Joyce was the oldest of seven children, she looked out for her siblings Reynolds, Gregory, Roger, Kimberley, Lorna and Corwin. Reynolds and Roger are still living the others preceded her in death.
Joyce met Johnny Oscar Wysinger at just eight years old, at adulthood their story led to marriage and five children. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Dorvonya, Johnny Oscar Jr. (Alexis) Quintella (Reginald), Takeda (Adolphus), and Tryd (Zakia); 24 grandchildren: Jessica, Tavianna, Dalonda, Dakeshia, Deshawn, Jané, Cody, India, Zavontaé, Jai, Yasmine, Khadijah, Johnny Jr., Jordin, Jaylen, Jolie, Marcus Jr., Johnovan, Neveah, Jayden, Tryd Jr., Jiya, Avery, and Isaac; and 5 great-grandchildren: Lové, Jacob, Cayden, Alanah, and Kashton. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous “though not blood-made, love-made” children, and grandchildren and her devoted caretaker, Brenda.
She was the perfect example of kindness, beauty, and strength. She filled lives with joy, love, laughter, and light. Her proudest accomplishment was not measured by titles or awards, but by the love she poured into her family—assuring that they would always share the tightest bond, reflected by the many loved ones that surrounded her in her final days. Though motherhood was her proudest and easiest job, she held several jobs but had the most fun as a songstress who performed in Chicago nightclubs singing Billie Holiday and other jazz and blues music. She could fill a room with the sweet music, whether she was on stage in a crowded Chicago nightclub or humming softly around the house. Music wasn’t just something she performed, it was how she showed love and celebrated life.
