Larry Holt

Larry Darnell Holt was born on December 1, 1959 in Birmingham, Alabama and departed this life on January 9, 2021 in Cedar Hill, Texas. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Amos Holt Sr., and his mother, Irene Walton Holt, and his brothers, Duke William Holt and Amos “Cheadom” Holt, Jr.

Larry accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant View Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama. He attended the Jefferson County School System and graduated from Pinson Valley High School in 1978. He then attended Tuskegee University and graduated in 1982 with a B.S. in Sociology.

In 1982 he moved to Dallas, Texas and began working in the retail industry. He had over thirty years in the Loss Prevention/Fraud field working for Macy’s and Louis Vuitton.

He married Paula Truss in 1991 and from this union he had a son, Darius D. Holt and stepdaughter, Felicia D. Truss. Paula preceded him in death in 2001.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a loving and devoted wife, Marietta Walker Holt; son, Darius D. Holt; grandson, Kayden D. Holt; stepdaughter, Felicia D. Truss; three brothers, Amos Charles Holt (Lillian), Willie Walton (Marcy), and Marion Holt (Tari); three sisters, Elvira Holt Agee, beloved and sisters, Darlene K. Holt and Angela Holt. He is survived by several aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
