Letha M. Miller-Hendley was born on February 25, 1933 in Naples Texas to the parents of Clarence Miller and Myrtle Friday-Miller. She was the eldest of Seven children. Her career took her down several avenue until she was hired at the Dallas Transit system, where she was among one of the first three women to drive for the Transit system.
She met and married Odell Hines and had three children during this union. After his death, she married James G. Hendley, and of this union they had an additional three children. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Mount Pleasant Church of Christ. She became a member of New Birth Christian Church, in 1979 where Pastor, Willie Taylor is head saint.
She was proceeded in death by two husbands, her mother, father, two sisters, three brothers and two infants.
She leave behind to cherish her precious memories: Siblings: Mary Price and Kenneth Wilson. Daughters: MaeDell Ponder, (James), Beverly Chatman, Myrtle Wilson, (Vernon) Vivian Hendley, sons: James Hendley, (Ruthie) and Michael Hendley, (Bridgett). Twelve grand children: Dwight, Nancy, Dewayne, Alfonso, Laverna, Aric, Tresley, Sharay, Carlos, Randy, Sawona and Shamariah. 28 great grand Children, 10 great great grand children and 3 great great great grand children as well as grand sons/daughter-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family. Her favorite times included, (but was not limited to) cooking and collecting cook books, watching One Life to Live, spending with her long time friend Mrs. Jo Phillips, being a member of New Birth Christian Church in which, she and her best friend, Mother Dorthy Allen faithfully prayed twice a day. She was an inspiration to all and will be greatly missed.
