Mable Turner was born April 11, 1936, in Brazos County, Bryan, TX, to the union of Floyd Turner Sr. and A.B. Rogers Turner. She was the ninth child of their eleven children. She attained her early education through the public schools in Bryan, TX. In 1954, she graduated from E.A. Kemp High School. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she was baptized.
Sometime after graduating from high school, she moved to Los Angeles, CA. This is where she met Charles Ervin Williams, and they married in 1956. To this union, seven children were born. While in Los Angeles, CA, she joined the Heavenly Vision Baptist Church. She was under the leadership of the late Rev. Joseph Lee while singing in the choir. She worked at Harbor General Hospital until moving to Dallas, TX, in 1973. After moving to Dallas, TX, she joined Community First Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend C.H. Gerald. She later transitioned over to the Greater Community First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor LaCedric Williams, where she remained a faithful member until her health began to decline.
Our mother loved the following: the Dallas Cowboys football team, working on crossword puzzles, and putting together 500- or 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles with her kids. Going to the casinos in Louisiana or Oklahoma, amusement and waterparks, traveling. She loved attending E.A. Kemp class reunions with her sister Lizzie Shaw. She also loved attending her family reunions over the past 45+ years and bringing her delicious cakes.
Mable Turner Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Williams; daughter, Davita Charlene Williams; parents, Floyd Turner Sr. and A.B. Turner, along with four sisters and five brothers.
Mable Turner Williams is survived by her children: Debra D. Holmes, Dwain K. Williams, Daryl K. Williams Sr., Donald K. Williams Sr. (Joyce), Dawn R. Richardson (Derrick), and Derrick K. Williams; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one sister, Lizzie Shaw (Peoria, AZ), one sister-in-law, Callie Turner (Bryan, TX), and an abundance of relatives and friends.
