Marilyn Haynes

Marilyn "Mel" Denise Haynes was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and Aunt. She passed away on November 3, 2023, at age 65. She was born to James Peters and Lillian Glover on April 27, 1958. After graduating high school, Marilyn got married to Willie "Tim" Timothy Haynes in 1978 and had their first child LaToya Da'shun Haynes in 1986. They were married for 13 years until his passing in 1991.

Marilyn remarried in November 1994 to Volney Woods Jr. where she had two more children, Volney Woods III and Volnei Woods in 1995 and 1997.

Marilyn worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 27 years and retired in 2008. She opened her group home, The Da'shun Foundation Group home in 2006 to help the mentally disabled by providing a place they can call home.

Marilyn enjoyed volunteering at her church, spending time with her grandson she called her "Little Man" and spending time with her family, along with watching her favorite TV shows and Lifetime movies in her spare time. 

She is survived by her husband, 3 children, grandson, son-in-law, sisters, and mother.
