Mary was born December 26, 1926, in Vaden, Mississippi, to the parentage of Mira and Archie Murphy, who preceded her in death. Four brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death. Mary taught school in Mississippi. She married Alious Nash and gave birth to six children. One son, Ronnell Nash, preceded her in death. Alious Nash preceded her in death. She met and married Fred Williams.
Mary moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she united with New Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She finally united with Manuel Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in Christian education. She attended Chicago Baptist Institute. She taught Sunday School, Mission, and Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir for over 60 years.
Mary taught all of her children to love and trust the Lord with all of their hearts and to love others. Her favorite bible verse was: “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
She leaves to cherish her memory: five children: daughter Myra Gwendolyn Jones (Arlington Sr.), son Gawaine Nash (Doris), daughter Robbie Mitchell (Brian Sr.), daughter Evelyn Jackson (Conrad Sr.), and son Llewellyn Nash (Marge). A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends, and relatives.
