Marzel Rand was born on June 9, 1940 to Lonnie and Johnnie Rand in Jefferson, Texas. He attended school in the Marion County school district graduating from Central High school in 1958. He then relocated to Dallas, Texas to further his education. He worked various part-time jobs while in training for Heavy Equipment operation. After his training he was employed with US Steel where he worked as an Overhead Crane Operator and retired from there after 25 years of service. After 2 years of rest, he went back into the workforce for Dallas Co Sherriff Dept as a Detention Service Officer and retired after 12 years of service.
Marzel was a lover of the outdoors, avid fisherman, hunter, keeping his automobiles clean and yard beautiful.
He had enough love in his heart to share with his Church Family, Community, Co-workers and most of all his Family.
He was truly a God fearing and honorable man. For many years he served as treasurer of his community organization and Chaplain of Dallas County Retirees.
On September 22, 1960, he married Corria Allen, the Love of His Life. In this union one child was born Marian Rand.
Marzel was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Johnnie Rand; brothers, Buford Rand, Lonnie Rand, sisters, Theodore Blacklock, Claude Smith and Odell Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 64 years, Corria Rand; one daughter, Marian Rand; brother, Oscar Rand (Eula); sisters, MA Andrews and Larnell Johnson; bonus daughters, Vallie Raye Green, Jackie Spearmon, Gwen Powers, Willie Mae Greene, Gayla Spencer, Alicia McNeal, Kimberly Ellis and Kerri Spencer, along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
