Max Vigus Obituary

Max was born in Springfield, Missouri on August 5, 1942. As a proud veteran of the United States Army, he went to meet with his friends at Fiddlers' Green, a legendary afterlife where there is eternal joy, a fiddle that never stops playing, and dancers who never tire. It is a heaven reserved for sailors or soldiers, especially cavalrymen, on October 7, 2024.

Max enlisted in the Army at the age of 17. He worked his way up the ranks, eventually retiring as a drill sergeant. He took a lot of pride in his drill sergeant mentality. His goal was to help soldiers become the best versions of themselves, which followed him long after retirement as he inspired his family and friends to also be the best versions of themselves. At the time of retirement, he was awarded over a dozen medals, including the Purple Heart Medal.

In 1998, he met Pat, the love of his life. What started as a casual meeting turned into years of love, happiness, and endless memories. Max and Pat were married in 2005. As a wedding gift to Pat, he purchased a brand new home at the Homestead in Bayfield, Colorado. They took several weekend trips and short vacations, until Pat retired. At that time, they became full time RV'ers and they traveled coast to coast and in to Canada.

Max is survived by his wife, Pat. His children, grandchildren, two brothers, numerous nieces and nephews, and a large group of amazing friends. All who had the honor of meeting him will miss him dearly.

Max and Valerie were a dynamic father/ daughter duo and although he loved Pat immensely, he enjoyed tormenting and irritating her with Valerie. His final wish was for Valerie to continue tormenting her, where he left off!

The family is asking everyone to please wear bright colors to the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in his name to the St. Jude Children Cancer Research Hospital.
